The Minnesota AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion at the Minnesota State Fair is a very lively place. Kiosks are spread around the courtyard, staffed by affiliated unions’ members. There is entertainment – musical groups usually—every day and prizes offered by many of the affiliates.
The Retiree Council will have a kiosk on the Senior Days at the fair which are Monday, August 26 and Thursday, August 29. The “Scrap the Cap” wallet card explaining one of the ways Social Security can be strengthened will be one of the handouts.
The Minneapolis Regional Retiree Council will also be the kiosk presenting information about the importance of the census. Volunteer union retirees have hundreds of conversations about important senior issues with fair goers on the two days we are present.
If you will be attending the fair, be sure to stop by the Labor Pavilion and enjoy the camaraderie. And if you are there on a Senior Day, visit the Retiree Council kiosk for a chat. See you at the “Great Minnesota Get-together”.
In addition to their hours at the Retiree Council kiosk, MRRC volunteers will have a kiosk featuring the census on Friday, August 23, Tuesday, August 27, Thursday, August 29, Saturday, August 31 and Monday, September 2.
